A variational discrete element method for the computation of Cosserat elasticity

چکیده

The variational discrete element method developed in [28] for dynamic elasto-plastic computations is adapted to compute the deformation of elastic Cosserat materials. In addition cellwise displacement degrees freedom (dofs), rotational dofs are added. A reconstruction devised obtain P 1 non-conforming polynomials each cell and thus constant strains stresses cell. requires only usual macroscopic parameters a material no microscopic parameter. Numerical examples show robustness both static two three dimensions.
